My Chains Are Gone
My chief desire in all my writings, is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him beautiful and glorious in the eyes of people; and to promote the increase of repentance, faith, and holiness upon earth - J. C. Ryle (1816-1900)

Let Us Be Content

In this way?
Just a kindly hand to rock the crib,
from which springs forth a faithful disciple
whom Jesus loves for ever?
Let us be content.

Or this way?
Just a tiny seed that yields the fruit
which nourishes the thirsty lips of those whom
Jesus loves for ever?
Let us be content.

Lacking pride?
Naught but an old frayed cloth used to wipe
the dust and grime from the sandals of those whom
Jesus loves for ever?
Let us be content.

Without gain?
Merely a gentle breeze to soothe
the weary brow of a devoted saint whom
Jesus loves for ever?
Let us be content.

Poured out?
To exist merely as plain water to fill a lake,
which provides the fish that feeds the least of whom
Jesus loves for ever?
Let us be content.
