God Speaks

God speaks, “Come, let us reason together.”
He makes Man equal; reason his tool.
Man rebels, “I will make reason my god
and then I shall rule!” Man resents God’s role.

God speaks, “The time is ripe for clarity.”
He gives Man law to reveal Man’s soul.
Man rebels, “Personal sovereignty
is the better goal!” Man devolves to fool.

God speaks, “Return to Me through Jesus Christ.”
He gives Man hope; a Saviour to know.
Man rebels, “Why should I beg forgiveness?”
“I’ll not bend that low.” Hence Man’s endless woe.
